About Me

My teaching journey started on 7th March 2019 when I decided to join the teaching staff at iKids Enrichment Learning Centre in Gadong Central as a Primary Teacher. Without any teaching experience, I received few informal trainings on teaching Vedic Math for lower and upper level, and Phonics for the lower levels which lasted about 3 months. Despite the challenges faced along the way, joining the team has taught me the joy of teaching kids. Every day was always exciting and a surprise for me. However, the bittersweet journey at iKids ended a year after that as I decided to pursue and focus on my apprenticeship programme for full-time with the hope of gaining more knowledge on the teaching side. This is because I always feel that there is something that is lacking and more to explore.

Nevertheless, the next chapter of my teaching journey landed me at Sekolah Rendah Danau in Tutong. During my one year experience of staying at SR Danau, I was appointed as an Assistant Class Teacher of Year 4 and a Subject Teacher of Social Studies for both Year 4 and 5 with a total of 19 students.

A year after 2020, I entered a new phase of my academic journey as I was accepted to the MTeach Programme at Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) at the University of Brunei Darussalam. Throughout my teaching and learning experience of MTeach, I have met many people that has inspired me and help me to growth both personally and professionally.

My colleague and friends describe me as someone who is optimistic and persevere.

When it comes to teaching, I believe with the idea of ‘we learn to play, we play to learn’. For kids at such as young age, they like to play and explore their surrounding. When we invite them to play, they get more interested and engaged in their learning. Thus, this is what I wish to aspire during my lessons.
